Pipe Cleaning Procedure

PipelineTM

In Association with PIPELINE™

On average most licensed premises with draught beer dispense should clean their pipes and equipment at least once a week. This prevents product and line contamination from yeast and bacteria which ultimately effects beer quality and dispense.

Follow these simple steps to ensure your beer is at it's best!

As mentioned above these procedures are written using Pipeline™, and will probably need adjusting for other products. To find out how you can purchase the No.1 in beer line cleaning please contact Emma in our office for details and prices.

1 Turn on cleaning gas
2 Disconnect Kegs
3 Thoroughly clean keg connectors
4 Connect keg connectors to cleaning ring main
5 Turn off cooler at the mains
6 Measure out Pipeline™ using dilution rate of 1:40
7 Put Pipeline™ into cleaning bottle and top up with cold water
8 Connect cleaning bottle to cleaning ring main
9 Bleed fob detectors until full of purple cleaning solution
10 Wait 5 minutes
11 After 5 minutes the colour of the solution in a dirty fob should have changed. Bleed off until chamber is full of fresh purple solution.
NB. Repeat this process until no colour change occurs in fob.
  TO THE BAR
12 Remove sparklers from taps (remembering which go where) place in a pint glass with a dilute solution of Pipeline™
13 Draw cleaning fluid through taps, likely to be a green colour at first which is perfectly normal and shows that the Pipeline™ is doing its job, keep pouring solution until some form of a purple colour is dispensed.
14 Wait for 5 minutes
15 Pour off dirty solution, which in some cases can even turn black depending on the state of the line, keep pouring until the purple solution arrives again.
16 Wait for 5 minutes
17 At this point when you pour off the solution your lines should be immaculately clean and no discoloration of the solution appears. If it does, leave for another 5 minutes and try again. If it still continues to happen contact our office to arrange for a "Blitz Clean" where the line is basically stripped!
18 BACK TO THE CELLAR
19 Disconnect cleaning bottle from cleaning ring main
20 Empty and rinse out any purple solution left in the cleaning bottle (only do with products that state they are biodegradable and not harmful to the environment)
21 Refill cleaning bottle with fresh water from the mains
22 Reconnect to cleaning ring main
23 Bleed fob detectors until filled with fresh water (no purple residue at all)
  BACK TO THE BAR
24 Draw off purple solution in lines until it runs clear
25 In every box of Pipeline™ are a packet of "Litmus" papers which you can use to identify if the solution from the tap is free of any Pipeline™. Pull off one pint of fluid from the tap, dip in the test paper, if there is any trace of Pipeline™ the paper will turn purple. If this is the case keep flushing the line and try again.
